Ever feel obligated to update your journal because it's just been so damn long since the last update? ::waves:: I do!

Work and the JLPT leave little time for drawing, and I do feel a touch artblocked. Week after next I should be able to work on getting myself out of that, though. So maybe more here coming up? I don't know. My work schedule got shifted so I'm working more normal hours and getting home at a more reasonable time.

I got Skyward Sword (of course) and have been working my way through it. I like it - a lot - though to be honest, not quite as much as I expected to. The motion controls are really quite good, though I can be a little spastic (resulting in Link flailing his sword every which way, which isn't a good thing in this game). The option to recenter the pointer when aiming is nice; I only wish I needed it less. The world is BEAUTIFUL, the music is BEAUTIFUL, the bosses are really neat. Lot of backtracking, though, and no way to skip through dialogue quickly. I'm liking the races being introduced here, too... especially the Kikwi WHICH ARE SO CUTE OMG.

But yeah, that's about it. Work, studying, Zelda. Baked pies for Thanksgiving, so that was good.

Perhaps I'll be more active here soonish!

No one buy anything from them.

Ever.

I bought some DVDs for my grandpa's birthday a couple years ago, and they WILL NOT STOP sending me catalogs and emails. I've tried getting my name removed four or five times, now.

Just get the stuff elsewhere, if you must. They will NOT quit bugging you if you order from them. ><

An epiphany.

1 min read
I realized something today.

I stayed up late last night talking to Comcast customer support to work out a billing issue.
I woke up this morning to call a body shop and two different dealers to get my car's locks looked at.
Tomorrow I get to wake up at 5:30 to actually take my car in, and if I'm lucky I won't have to rent a car until Monday.

THIS is what being an adult means. It's not all 'woooo my own place' and 'ice cream for breakfast.' It's 'pay the bills' and 'oh god why is my car doing that' and 'crap can I still get to work on time?'

Oh my god I've fallen madly in love with this. FULL OF SPOILERS. But totally awesome. Go listen if you've finished the game or don't care about spoilers!

Been while... about time I got something new up. So let's see, what've I been up to?

I got a haircut - currently it's just longer than chin length, parted above my left eye. I went to a nice salon for it (going so short (for me), I wanted to get it done someplace nicer than the local Cost Cutters) and it was lovely~ They gave me tea, and a warm scanted neck pillow, and a scalp massage, and then a hand massage. Ohhh, it was nice.

Firra and I are trying to grow things on our balcony. The raccoon and squirrels take offense to this... or they're pleased that we've given them this nice buffet to chew on. I'm not sure which.

My car went in for emissions testing, which was a much less grueling process than I'd feared. I went at like 9:30 on a Tuesday morning, and there was one other vehicle there. In and out in a couple of minutes, tops.

I still don't have any games for Sanmatsu (my 3DS), and I still haven't beaten Find Mii. I'm at the Ultimate Ghost, though, so maybe in a couple of days.

We have a new guy at work. He's... learning. I was sort of hoping we'd get a gamer, but he's into sports. Ah well. Also work-related, I've become almost solely responsible for our Wiki, and it's a total blast. Someone commented that their guess was I'd gotten more work done on it in the past couple-three weeks than everyone had since the Wiki's creation. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that were true.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a PS3. Thoughts, anyone? Please? Gamestop's giving me a coupon for $100 off a new one (presumably to attract buyers in the aftermath of this PSN fiasco). I've wanted one pretty much since launch... mostly because I want Genji: Tales of the Blade, but I could also finally get the new FF and a second copy of Portal 2.

Speaking of Portal 2, I just got that too, and have since beaten it, and am now playing through in commentary. And in case anyone cares, I have a Slimline with Nvidia GeForce 6150 SE integrated graphics card, and yes, it actually runs on my system. It shouldn't - the card doesn't meet minimum requirements - but it does. Oddly, it's less jerky than Portal in some ways. Some of the cutscenes lag badly enough that the audio disconnects, but I can see the gels just fine, and the neurotoxin doesn't slow my system to a crawl like it did in Portal. Yeah, that last boss fight? Not fun. The last boss fight here? MUCH smoother.

I WOULD LOVE TO PLAY PORTAL 2'S CO-OP MODE. Just putting that out there. I've got it on Steam, and if you can live with me perhaps moving slightly slower than I ought to because of occasional lag, please tell me so we can play together. I'm willing to help you with every achievement (except for the speed one, and not because I'm unwilling, but because I'm not that fast).

Cycling back to the PS3 question, my other thought is to save up for a MUCH better computer (or alternately, a Slimline power supply better than my dinky 220 watt one, and a low profile graphics card better than what I've got).

Firra and I got an entertainment center from IKEA, so now the TV lives on that instead of on a minifridge covered in cloth. I think it's an improvement. Next furniture - a new desk, perhaps?

Haven't been drawing much... work does that. I doodled a questionable picture of Steiner from FFIX yesterday; perhaps I'll scan and color that at some point.

Now, though, I need to finish up so I can go to work. Good times, good times. I can hardly believe I've worked there for a year, now. ^^ It's nice. Hope everyone's... whatevers... are going well!
